2020 WINDY CITY CHAPTER PROGRAMS
January
MLK Day of Service
Every January, Windy City Chapter participates in the MLK Day of Service. This day, commemorating the work of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., is spent in service to the communities of Chicago.
Founders’ Day
In January, Windy City Chapter takes time to honor our founders and remember why Jack and Jill of America, Inc. was founded and how we will continue the mission. We celebrate our 80+ years of rich Jack and Jill history through photos, speakers, and fellowship among mother members.
Associates Appreciation
The Windy City Associates Appreciation Day/event is a classic brunch used to catch up on family celebrations and reminisce on Jack and Jill memories. It is sometimes combined with Founders’ Day as a way of honoring the legacy, the dedication, and growth of the chapter. This memorable celebration, regardless of its venue, is enamored with pleasant conversations, great advice, and so much laughter.

April
March for Babies
Windy City Chapter of Jack and Jill of America, Inc. participates in the annual March for Babies fundraiser and walk in Chicago. It is the chapter’s goal to raise funds for March of Dimes and heighten awareness of the organization. Windy City mothers, fathers and children walk, run or ride scooters- all in the name of philanthropy!
Fathers’ Appreciation
Jack and Jill membership is held by the mothers, but father participation is critical to the success of our goal to nurture future African – American leaders. Members of the Windy City Chapter Father’s Auxiliary provide various levels of support to our mothers and chapter – often serving as mentors and chaperones, as well as attending local and regional programming. Each April, Jack and Jill chapters near and far celebrate dads during National Father’s Appreciation Month. During the April month, Windy City Chapter plans an outing of fun for our Father’s Auxiliary such as a sporting event or a social gathering perfect for fellowship.
May
Black Family Day
Black Family Day is an opportunity to highlight and commemorate black culture and the black experience by recognizing the power and strength of our traditions, culture and the legacies of our ancestors. Black Family Day is a wonderful chance for Windy City families to engage in activities that promote cultural pride while strengthening our community.

September
Jack and Jill Day/Carole Roberston Day
Jack and Jill Day is a family oriented day held in September for members and their guests to fellowship and enjoy arts and crafts and games. In 2019, Windy City Chapter and chapters across the Midwestern Region celebrated by attending a HBCU college fair, high school and college battle of the bands and watched an action packed football game at the Chicago Football Classic. During Jack and Jill Day, we remember and honor Jack & Jiller Carole Robertson who was one of the four girls killed during the 1963 bombing of the 16th Street Baptist Church in Birmingham.
